The Master of Science in Marketing (MSc Marketing) is a unique postgraduate program that is designed to address the inimitable and critical need for professional marketers in both industry and academia. The program is designed to provide in-depth knowledge for strategic marketing management and planning skills for marketing professionals operating at a strategic level in the industry and academic insights for Lecturers of marketing at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. This is motivated by the growth in the number of professionals with non-marketing backgrounds taking up strategic marketing roles in most corporations. This includes Economists, Business Administration graduates, engineers, and to some extent journalists or Public Relations practitioners, to mention but a few. The mushrooming of private colleges and universities have equally created a huge deficit in lecturing staff in the field of marketing.

This program is aimed at providing advanced skills which enable one to make informed decisions thereby ensuring the attainment of competitive advantage. During the study of the program, practicing marketers will enhance their theoretical and practical knowledge with exposure to strategic applications in global and local business and marketing contexts.

Program Structure

The program is designed for three (3) semesters. Students of this MSc Marketing program will be required to take four courses in each of the first two stages and will be required to undertake a dissertation in the final stage.

Applicants should hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree or from a recognized University; or

Hold a recognized professional qualification.

Applicants must have at least three years of work experience or graduated with merit or better at their undergraduate level.

Exceptions to the above conditions would be considered on a case by case basis
